Refreshing hospitality as Croke Park invests in updated Verteda solution
Warrington, UK – 11 June 2015 – The “home of Gaelic games”, Croke Park GAA stadium in Dublin has upgraded and refreshed its stadium-wide point of sale solution as part of a new five-year agreement with Verteda and in conjunction with the venue’s catering services partner, US-based foodservice provider Aramark.
“We are always seeking new ways to improve how we work and to deliver more to our customers and fans at every level – with the hospitality technology from Verteda this is one way of achieving that,” says Ger Mulryan, Financial Controller, Croke Park Stadium “We’ve been working with the Verteda team for a number of years now, and they clearly understand both the challenges faced in our sector as well as the opportunities that new technology presents to improve service while also building revenues. Our updated next-generation POS solution means we can further improve the fan experience at Croke Park and help Food & Beverage operations to work as smoothly and efficiently as possible.”
Owned by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) and with a capacity of 82,300 (73,500 seated), Croke Park (Páirc an Chrócaigh) is one of Europe’s largest stadium and a longstanding Verteda customer. It is one of Ireland’s biggest visitor attractions; in addition to hosting domestic football and hurling, Croke Park is also a popular venue for international sporting events and concerts. Aramark employs around 1,000 staff onsite when the stadium is operating at full capacity for events.
The new contract includes replacing 241 ageing IBM point of sale terminals in outlets and concessions throughout Croke Park with state-of-the-art J2 225 with its sleek modern appearance and capabilities, is perfectly suited for the hospitality environment and has integrated Contactless Payment solution in partnership with AIB (Allied Irish Banks, p.l.c.). Responding to increasing customer demand, contactless payment (integrated with the Verteda POS solution) will improve transaction speed and customer throughput while reducing the amount of cash the stadium needs to hold onsite. The Verteda solution also includes the widespread use of a loyalty system embedded within the InfoGenesis™ POS software from Agilysys, Inc. This includes corporate guests receiving tangible value back onto their membership cards as a result of purchases made elsewhere.
“Croke Park is a longstanding Verteda customer so we’re obviously delighted our successful partnership, in terms of hospitality technology, is continuing,” says Trevor Roberts, Sales Director, Verteda Ltd. “Ongoing relationships like this are proof of the value Verteda solutions are bringing to more than 50 stadium across the UK and Ireland.”
